Natasha watched Peter carefully from inside the control booth, as she crossed her arms and made note of every move he made.  The first shot was alright, but looked almost half-attempted, and she knew that he could definitely do better - he still had the rest of the exercise to prove his full potential.  She pressed the intercom button.  ”Farther.  You’ve still got about forty more targets to go.”

Normally, an average agent should be able to move through the shooting course and take down at least twenty-five targets in no more than a minute.  Now in an actual mission, the targets would shoot back, but this training session was more focused on agility and precision, while keeping a sharp mind.  If Peter thought his first two days of training were difficult, wait until they progressed further in the program.

“FORTY? Are you crazy!?” Peter shouted as one of them hit him on the shoulder. Shit. Apparently they were. Groaning, he then saw the nearest target and shot out a web to grab for it, exhausted from the morning but now running with new adrenaline. He threw the target he had only just caught into the other two that were coming straight at him, knocking them both out of the way.

Then he scrambled up the nearest scaffolding, hanging on there as he watched the other targets coming. He hit back as hard as he could, clinging to the side of the scaffold and hit back once more. He leaped from the scaffold as nimbly as he could, grabbing onto the side of the wall and he reached out with his other hand. He panted but kept paying attention, his eyes narrowing in concentration. He shot back again at the targets, gritting his teeth as he swung back to the scaffold and threw them into the wall where he had just been.

“Was THAT it?!” He shouted to Black Widow, waiting for more targets to come.

Natasha was pleased at his sudden adjustment to the situation, but her expression did not display anything more than her usual stone-faced exterior.  It was a good improvement, and showed that he could improvise, which was a very valuable skill to have.  Some enemies are less predictable than others, and the ability to concoct last-second plans were practically a necessity.  Peter was actually doing better than she had expected him to.  The system stopped after the last few targets appeared, and Natasha stepped out of the control room with her arms still crossed.

“You adjusted well while being overwhelmed, and proved that you’re a quick-thinker,” she commented, giving him positive reinforcement, making sure he knew that was a factor that he needed to maintain.  ”You still need great improvement though, because you only got a twenty-three out of forty-five.  That’s only fifty-one percent, and a failing grade.  And since you didn’t get all the targets, that means you get to do it again.  This time, make sure you - ” Natasha cut herself off as someone spoke into her earpiece, asking for her assistance on the main deck.  ”I’ll be right there,” she replied to the agent who was summoning her.

“I have to head to the main deck, so we’ll finish this tomorrow.  Meanwhile, I am going to ask you to attend to your handler, Agent Barton,” she said, averting her attention back to Peter, before turning around and heading out.

Natasha shot him a look of discontent before stepping into the target practice’s control room.  Turning on the mic, she began to brief Peter.  ”You’re to climb to the top of this room, and I’m going to turn this on.  I want you to hit every single target as they appear no lower than the top of that scaffolding.  If you hit every single target by when the timer goes off, I’ll let you off for the day.”

Looking down at the controls, she turned one of the large round knobs, amping up the normal speed of the targets, and set the timer to go off in a minute.  Natasha wanted to see how far he would push himself.  What was the use of having something when you didn’t bother to find out the limits of it?  From that, it’d be easier to diagnosis what he’d need to practice more on.  Did he need to know how to move more fluidly?  Be more aggressive?  Pushing yourself to the extent of your capabilities was the only way to find out.

Peter looked at her as he took in his surroundings as well. Nervously, he looked back at her and then the columns around him. What was he supposed to do now? Biting his lip, he listened to her instructions. Oh. Right. Every single target? That meant there would be more than one. Great. Hopefully they weren’t going to be as heavy as Cap’s shield. Timer? Oh that was fun. Nowh eh ad to worry about being timed too? This was crazy. He bit his ilp and crouched down to ready himself.

Peter saw the first target come straight towards him and shot off a web as far as he could, catching it mid air before he swung at the other one. He tried to concentrate and pulled back the webs before going to the next target, ducking under and shooting out yet again as far as he could go. “That what you wanted?”

IT was still so damned early in the day. Sure, he was used to going to school at certain hours but this was different. As excited as he was to be here, he already felt worn out. He didn’t know if he could hold his own especially if they were just going to pop out at corners constantly at him, making surprise training sessions just to see what he could do. Hell, Peter didn’t even know half the stuff he was even capable of just yet. He just knew the basics like wall crawling, sticking, webbing, shooting, travelling by web. It was crazy. All of it.

He followed slowly behind her, yawning again as he did. He was already bruised from the last fight he’d be in. He wasn’t sure how much worse this one would be. “Uuuuh, I don’t know actually. I’ve never tried to see how far they would go?” He looked up and around the place, wondering what it was she wanted him to do.

Peter was exhausted. He had fallen asleep on his breakfast again and made quite a mess in the cafeteria just the same. Finally, he ‘d made himself get up and go around again, exploring around the vessel that would be his home for God knows how long. He couldn’t think straight. His senses were still going wild and he couldn’t seem to keep anything in his mind organized today. he was beyond overwhelmed and he didn’t know what to do anymore. His head throbbed and he almost didn’t sense her near him. He almost didn’t see her coming but his senses buzzed yet again and he turned, yawning right in her face.

“Oh.You. Let me guess. More training.”

“What else?” Natasha replied to the teen, before folding her arms in front of her chest, as she observed the sleepy figure standing before her.  She wondered how long he’d be willing to do this - he seemed so eager to start just the other day.  Maybe she was hoping he would be able to hold out a bit more before having to deal with complaints.  ”And training is will keep going until you’ve got the hang of your abilities.  Come on.  We have a lot to do.”

She started heading down the hall, expecting Peter to quickly follow, as she walked towards a different, much larger training room, with countless columns and structures scattered around.  The room was usually used as a moving target practice maze, but she figured the high ceiling would suffice.  ”Tell me, how far can you shoot your webs?”
